FLUCTUS
Fluctus is an audio/visual performance synthesising the ideas of musically Brightness by Adam Neely and flux and logos presented by philosopher Heraclitus which describes how the universe works. Brightness is a quality of sound determined by the amount of harmonics of a sound, the more harmonics the brighter the sound. Logos is structure and flux is fluidity. An analogy of these ideas is a guitar and string, logos create the tension necessary for the string to vibrate to create sound. Further more it explores the concept of brightness in regards to sound and visuals. The music is inspired by Indian classical music and minimalism and uses instructional score to structure the composition. Fluctus visuals were made in Touch Designer by vibrating lines with the frequency of sound. Timbre of sound informs the colour of the visuals through human interpretation with an OSC controller.
